Setting up Intercom for live chat

Connect Intercom to your Emovart site and turn the Contact button into a live conversation with your team.

Last updated on July 9, 2026

Intercom is one of the most widely used customer messaging platforms. With this integration, the Intercom Messenger loads on every page of your help center, and clicking Contact pops it open.

Locating the App ID

Emovart identifies your Intercom workspace by its App ID — a short alphanumeric code such as ab12cd3e.

The quickest way to find it: sign in to Intercom and look at your browser's address bar. The segment right after /a/apps/ is your App ID, for example app.intercom.com/a/apps/ab12cd3e/inbox.

You'll also find it inside Intercom under Settings → Installation → Web, where it appears as the app_id value in the install code.

Once you have it, open Settings → Help Centers → Integrations in Emovart, select Intercom as the contact provider, paste the App ID, and save. Reload your help center and the Messenger bubble appears in the corner.

Passing information to Intercom

Visitors browsing your help center aren't signed in to your product, so the Messenger boots in visitor mode. New conversations arrive in Intercom as leads without a name or email until the visitor shares one in the chat — Emovart doesn't forward any personal data to Intercom on its own. For most support setups that's exactly what you want: anyone can start a conversation, and your team qualifies them in the inbox.

⚠️
Copy the App ID, not an API key or access token — those look similar but won't load the Messenger. And if your workspace enforces identity verification for logged-in users, anonymous visitor chat keeps working; those conversations simply stay unverified leads.
