πŸ†• Adding a new sub collection

Group related articles inside a collection by adding a sub collection page in Notion.

Last updated on July 9, 2026

Sub collections are the middle layer of your content tree: root page β†’ collection β†’ sub collection β†’ articles. On your published site they act as group headers β€” sections on the collection's page in the Help Center layout, and grouped entries in the sidebar of the Documentation layout.

To add one:

  1. Open the collection page that should contain the new group.
  2. Create a sub page with /page and give it a clear name like "Billing" or "Troubleshooting".
  3. Move or create your article pages inside it.

Sub collections are optional β€” small categories can skip them entirely and list articles directly. See πŸ“‚ Creating a Single-Level Category.
