Long articles are much easier to digest when their structure is visible at a glance. Emovart can render a table of contents (ToC) next to each article automatically — no Notion /table of contents block required. Where it appears and whether it's optional depends on your site's layout.
Table of contents in the Help Center layout
On the Help Center layout, the ToC floats on the right side of the article. It tracks your scroll position and highlights the section you're currently reading, and clicking any entry jumps straight to that heading.
Enabling it for the Help Center layout
Here the ToC is optional:
- Open Settings → Help Centers and select your site.
- Go to Layout and switch Show table of contents on.
- Save. Every article with enough headings gets one automatically.
Articles without headings simply render without a ToC — nothing breaks.
Table of contents in the Documentation layout
The Documentation layout is built for reference material, so the ToC is a permanent part of the design: it always renders in the right-hand column, mirroring the grouped sidebar on the left. There's nothing to enable — structure your article with headings and the column fills itself.
Which headings end up in the table of contents?
Emovart builds the list from your Notion Heading 1 and Heading 2 blocks, in the order they appear on the page. Heading 3 blocks are intentionally left out so the list stays scannable, and headings tucked inside toggle blocks are skipped.
